An old interview of Imtiaz Ali about Socha Na Tha back when it was about to release:

'Ayesha is God-gifted!' - Imtiaz Ali

'Socha Na tha' will mark the debut of director Imtiaz Ali along with Abhay Deol and Apoorva Jha. Here is an excerpt from a conversation with the newcomer director:

What is 'Socha Na Tha' for you?
'Socha Na Tha' for me is the world in which Viren and Aditi meet each other.

You have worked in television for several years and with Socha na tha you've entered the world of feature films. How would you differentiate TV from Cinema?
here are the obvious dissimilarities. TV is a scenario where people going about their daily household work look at the small screen from time to time where as cinema is a medium where a captive audience is seated in a dark room looking at a big screen without any distraction.

Was it difficult handling already established stars that have played character roles in your film as compared to the new lead actors?
There were some difficulties because they had come with certain ideas. It was also a lot easy for me because I didn't have to tell them about the basics. And each of these actors had the ability to get rid of their baggage and become fresh for me.
Did you always plan to become a director?
Yes, I always wanted to become a director.

What did you think about Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia's performance in the film?
Abhay is perhaps the most honest performer that I've ever worked with. He belongs to an international class of acting. Ayesha is God-gifted. She's amazingly perceptive and transparent.

Which is your favorite song in the film?
The title song of the film, 'Socha Na Tha' is my favorite.

Did you face any interference from the producers through the making of Socha Na Tha?
None whatsoever.

The title song is my favorite from the movie too :-) And it's interesting how he was able to recognize Abhay's talent that early. Liked what he said about Ayesha too. I wish this combination of actors and film-maker could be repeated one day again.

Awww, SNT was such an adorable movie. When I first heard Shahid and Kareena were going to work with Imtiaz, I got so excited! I loved Ayesha and Abhay in SNT.
