Basically if we look at Samrat from day 1 as the people know him he' 1 helluva lucky guy where the girls just dig him, the principal truly adores him as he is the star player of the college who has won it many tournaments & honored the college (as he once said himself to Gunjan).
Besides being all of this he is also shown to be extremely rich (how else can he afford parties at the drop of a hat; not to mention the huge place he owns, the bikes, the farmhouse, etc.) however this doesn't make him a rich spoiled brat which could have been easily possible as sitting in the lap of luxury he is all alone, with no one around to look over him or keep a tab on him if he's ever on the wrong track & that's what makes Samrat work, that's also what exactly makes him so loved by his friends & others around him even if they aren't close to him as was Mayank initially, thou he has warmed up quite nicely to him now clearly shown by their camaraderie, the friendly rapport they share, plus how now quite like Samrat even Mayank is offering him tips on love now in an elder brotherly way sorta, saying that even he has faced the same situation with Nupur & how his feelings took him unawares & thou he tried his best to fight them off accepting them has only enriched his life & made him happier.😊
The possible reasons that this was not a delayed thing for Mayank was because he was never too social with anyone to begin with leave alone girls & Nupur was really the first girl he truly interacted with besides CJ (who he saw as a bud rather than a female friend cause of her tomboyish attitude) thus the attraction he felt for her was not only intensified but also not unnoticed by him as well.
His really jovial bonding with his mom(who sure is like the best mom on Indian telly now, wish I get a Ma-in- Law like her 😉😆😆) which was another boost as she would often pull his leg about Nupur bringing to his attention things he would have rather neglected or suppressed, coupled with Nupur herself who is a firebrand & knows exactly how to take the center stage with her attitude & confidence further intimidating him & yet charming him towards her in ways.
Samrat now has not had these advantages, yes advantages, Mayank was lucky enough to have, as his always charming flirty ways made him a rage with girls thus despite really noticing Gunjan & how uniquely special she is he quite never saw the way his feelings were headed; as for him being in a girl' company wasn't as unusual as it was for Mayank since before Gunjan too he had a close friendship with Dia who had a crazy crush over him forever, hence he couldn't quite see the difference that was obvious yet subtle.
Added to this not actually having family close by, he has never saw love for what it is in any form, as has Mayank thou even with only his mom so clearly allowing someone familiar living with him taking notice of his behavior, his changes that we fail to see in ourselves sometimes but when hinted at think closely about them.
Gunjan & Samrat' friendship thou the catalyst to their love also served as a deterrent causing the feelings so deeply rooted to yet go unnoticed, yes Gunjan & Samrat' friendship became a hurdle as this became a major reason Samrat failed to see her in a way he has now started doing as her naivety & innocence made Samrat so protective about her that he not only did ward off anyone like RV who tried to mess with her but also thought of her as so someone really delicate so going with his Casanova image he dare not even approach her as he has clearly said it time & again that she is someone who is way too good for him to Tamanna & many others, thus strengthening his belief further that this is a disaster waiting to happen, which he couldn't allow as he didn't ever wanna lose Gunjan.
Lastly alas it was Gunjan herself who with her shy reclusive nature never opened up to Samrat the way he did thus making him not venture in that territory as she wouldn't even allow him to hold her hand or even stand in proximity shying away from him making him not see her feelings but her actions that said aloud "FRIENDS ONLY."
However this myth only broke when Samrat landed in jail when he actually saw Gunjan' care & concern for what it really is & noticed her in a new way.
Her coming to him in jail, holding his hand to show her support made Samrat know that she is there for him truly within his reach also emphasizing to him how her little things like turning around to say bye to him with a smile meant to him, how a girl he always saw as frail became his strength quietly just by being beside him in his hour of need & self- doubt, when he was at his weakest.
But what truly awakened Samrat to the possibility of a rush of similar feelings from even Gunjan was the court hug scene where for the first time Gunjan really did let go off herself rushing to hold him in her arms making him feel about her like never before as this, spontaneous yet awaited, hug was unlike any other they had before, awkward or shy , one-sided or surprised, no this was more of an embrace that had none of the friendship involved in it as it wasn't the casual friendly hug but an embrace made with happiness & desire to hold him really close to believe that they had made thru a tough phase with each other.
This hug did what others couldn't, make Samrat confident enough thou unintentionally to allow himself to get closer to Gunjan like never before, touch her like he never did or even look at her in a way he never did in the celebration party where they truly had a moment being lost in one another without so much as a word spoken between them, making Samrat further fantasize Gunjan so intimately that he did recognize the true nature of his feelings for her thus declaring that he loves her.
Ahh the joys & miseries our lovely SaJan have gone thru & are still going, must say I did love the scenes they shared in which Samrat was going berserk over her but alas it seems happiness is still a place far away as indicated by the new promo, hope thou that the creatives get our beloved SaJan together ASAP to let us witness some more moments as these last few I mentioned.
