Another Show Exploiting an Educated Woman!

Dear Friends,

I have seen three episodes of this show and as a typical Indian Soap, the show is on its way to show indian values that has kept this country behind the rest of world in achieving it real potential. Before you start criticizing me, please hear me out.

Here is the plot so far: an educated girl, a lecturer, who is not married but at an age that society is ready to point fingers at (what year is this? 2009 or 1960?). Pressure from society and her broher, she has decied to marry an illiterate and obnoxiuos pimp. Common guys, what is this. Is this real? This is Delhi not some remote village without basic utiltiies and no schools. Has anyone gone to Delhi recently? It is not the same anymore.

Young folks of India are trying to make this county the envy of the world and these channels move them backward everytime the country takes a step forward by making shows like these.

I am really disturbded at the fact the a decent educated girl's character would be degaded in this show by he marriage to a pimp so that her family does not have to feel the society's pressure that their daughter is beyond a certain age and her bother has to wed because of kundalies.

Is this reality or just pure exploitation of a woman? Why can an woman born in India can reach the moon or become CEO of Pepsi, but in India she has to deal with these stupid ideology. Hope that they do not go through this wedding but if they do, get ready to expect a drama which is going to be really rough on the pemises of explotation of indian values. I feel sorry for this girl (and many other real ones in India) and that is what prompted me to write this.

I am not asking you to agree with me but if there is an audience for shows like these, they will keep making them. That is my point!

Women can do anything, and this fact is not supported throughout India. In India, girls are expected to marry at all costs, at the age of about 18-28. These dramas try to say that this is wrong, but sometimes do not do it well.

I Agree with you.... its really a shame that this show women in such helpless bechari sitution... makes me cringe.

Yes I agree with you as well. I was hoping that they show these three sisters courageous. But I guess what they are trying to show all aspects of Indian society, with Mili and Neetu being modern and Simi being dragged down by ideologies.

But there are some women out there, no matter how educated they are that when it comes to marriage they loose that confidence. Especially in Simi's case she's fat and been rejected many times. So it's hard for her to speak up and tell the truth. But i'm sure that this marriage won't happen and the truth will come out.

The irony here is that her parents are afraid of the society pointing a finger at them for keeping an unmarried daughter who has come of age. But won't the society laugh at them if they married her to a pimp. I think the Sethi family and esp.Simi should think about this.

This serial shows that the mother, no matter whatsoever, is determined to marry her daughter off. The mother is not ready to listen to anybody or think the future of her daughter. Unfortunately, some of these mothers don't think of the future but the present. It would not hurt the creatives to bring this message to the show.

I have stopped watching this show now, as it makes no sense to me.

How can the mother not know where her daughters' in laws stay?

How come no investigations happened about the boy before all the ceremonies?

And how come no one thinks that even if the daughter marries to this obnoxious character, she will be back in no time to her parent's place seeking their intervention in her marital life?

Another point I think this serial is even unfair to the males in India! I have a younger brother and he would never advise me to go on and get married to such a jerk, even if he has a girl friend.

No brother in right frame of mind would do this!! Even if he is selfish, he would once think about the situation if his sister returns back to her parents place?

Well as i have seen girls parents insist to visit boy's place once finalising the marriage not only parents first family raltives will visit and they do background checking of boy's family and boy himself. i wonder here Mr.seti who is a man of one word has not done any thing to finalise the matter. its simi who met the groom in a hotel common the way they showed like parent fixing a blind date to daughter. they have not got the photo of the groom are any details from his house like address and all.

And what to say of a mother god she is one of her kind after knowing such a big thing she is going ahead with the marriage idea. i feel like only one person with brains is mili poor girl tried all the possible way to tell simi and rest of the people about the guy and no one seems like ready to listen also.

The one who see each and every girl on the same scale he can do any thing with her sister's too. why cant simi see that truth.
