Abhishek in Ashutosh Gowariker's new Epic Film
'Khelein Hum Ji Jaan Sey'
Abhishek Bachchan has been roped in for director Ashutosh Gowariker's new flick, titled 'Khelein Hum Ji Jaan Sey'.
The film is reportedly a period piece and is based on the Chittgong uprising, will the lead Abhishek will play the character of Surjya Das. "I am working on a period film, 'Khelein Hum Ji Jaan Sey', which is based on the Chittagong uprising. Abhishek Bachchan will portray the role of Surjya Das in it." Gowariker ocnfirmed today.
The director is no stranger to period flicks, he has, after all directed Lagaan and Jodha Akbar in the past. 'Khelein Hum Ji Jaan Sey' will however not have a large cast. Apart from Abhishek Bachchan, the rest of the supporting cast will be made up of relatively unknowns or newcomers as Gowariker plans to introduce some new talent to Bollywood. The majority of the film's budget will be used for some sprawling set pieces and in all probability, also for CGI.
And contrary to earlier beliefs, Aishwarya Rai will not be part of 'Khelein Hum Ji Jaan Sey'. Shortly after the release of Joddha Akbar it was reported earlier that Ash has already signed on to appear in Gowariker's new film. It was also rumoured that Abhishek and Aishwarya would be cast together in three new films apart from 'Raavan' and 'Abhimaan', but Gowariker denies casting Ash even for a cameo in his new film.
The curiously titled 'Khelein Hum Ji Jaan Sey' will chart the events in Chittagong between 1900 and 1950, when revolutionaries and opposition movements grew during this time. Abhishek Bachchan plays Surya Sen, the chief architect of anti-British freedom movement in Chittagong. A main plot point of the film will be the famous Chittagong Armoury Raid of 1930. The film will incorporate some battle scenes, including Japanese planes bombarding the coast.
Abhishek Bachchan has reportedly hired a language coach to perfect his Bengali accent to prepare for the film.
