I think it's okay to have an Invites Only CC cuz sometimes we talk about personal issues that we don't want anyone else knowing about... like private convos. And then if we don't like someone (a celebrity) and someone else does in the CC it could offend them... plus having newbies come in and chat is really awkward cuz CC's are usually with people you've known since a long time and you're really close friends with them... not saying anything against newbies but I think Invites Only is a good concept...

well..it does kinda hurt the new members but.....

i'm sure newbies or watever can make there own cc and then they will have there own groups😃

when u do let other ppl join in the thing is u don't know much about them so when u are talking about some celberty and say they are a diehard fan of them then OH NO! an argumetn rite there!

and getting used to them and all that process..God it takes forevr🤔

I've been a member of IF for a long time now (since around 2006). the chat clubs section is one of the 3 sections I visit most. Me and my friends have chatted all day and night sometimes.. it feels like home here. I understand that people want to have their own "invite CC" but lately too many of them are popping up 😛😆 I know people just want to be with their friends and discuss things and whatever.. but thats the whole point of this forum. So people can chat and spam freely. It's also a place to make friends too. I know I'm just saying things other members have pointed out but I want my feelings to be known too.. So, no. I don't think there should be any "INvite only CC" or some other chat club section for people to chat freely. It defeats the whole purpose of the Chat Club section. But anyway it's up to the mods. chose wisely..

This is a place for all to interact without any restricitons so the "invite" only rule should be chucked out the window and for those who really want some "private" discussions with their friends can use the PM feature which now let's members PM more than one person at a time. Open forums never were intented to be "private" neither will they ever be private.

I have noticed alot of members from the Dev. Team seem to vouch for the 'PM' feature. Do you really think it's meant for chatting? I would find it rather tedious, if I must say.
Why some people like to look at the 'Invite Only' tag as an indication to shun out new members is beyond me. Invite Only tag is there simply because some of us like to chat only within a close peer group. Why should we jump beyond our parameters simply to please the new members ?
Instead, why can't the mods make a sticky chat club where all the new members can chat ? It would be easier to make a common CC than asking so many CCs to chuck the Invite Only tag out of the window.

@ Neetz:- The reason why "Invite Only" tag is looked at as an indication to shut out other members [doesn't matter old or new] is becasue almost ALL the CC's are now becoming "Invite Only". India-forums is a forum which let's its members participate freely anywhere they want. Chucking out the invite only rule is not done to please new members infact it would be done to show equality amongst ALL IF members and to say that everyone is welcome in any part of IF.
And in response to why mods should make a sticky CC for new people then how will one sticky entertain thousands of different people everyday? It would be haywire as there won't be any real conversation in that sticky except for the "hi's" from thousand different people.
Plus many of pro-"invite only" members are saying that this is more private. Can someone please explain to me how this is private if all of the 400000+ If members can view what you're stating in your CC's?

Which further illustrates my point that most members like to chat only within a small peer group. If so many CCs are becoming Invite Only, then it obviously means that this is the way majority of the members prefer the system to be.
Equality ? Where did the 'equality' angle come in from ? What makes you assume that the Invite Only tag is there to segregate members on the basis of something ? This is certainly new.
I'm sorry if I sound sarcastic, but the bolded line is almost contrary to what IF actually is. Best example ? Why aern't the normal members permitted in the 'Viewbies' section ? Since you all make decisions pertaining to us, we sure as hell have a right to know how you function. How does this prove that 'IF is a forum where any member can visit any forum' ?

Exactly. Now apply this explaination to a normal CC. Removing the Invite Only tag would be equivalent to allowing new members to pour in everyday. Will things not go haywire?

Imagine a cafe. Two people are sitting and chatting about something they do not wish to share with others, but if some random person starts eavesdropping on them, should they simply tell that person the secret too simply because it's audible to him anyway ? Or I know what they can do. Chuck the Cafe, go back home, and communicate via e-mails. How does that sound ?

how about changing the access options to the invite only CCs then?lets just say a particular group in a invite only cc is discussing their opinion on a show that they find lousy.some fan barges in insulting every member of the cc and trying to force their view on everyone.what do the members do then?cower away and start pming each other?[and its not even a hypothetical stuation im stating]...cant something be done like the restricted section the Dev Team uses?no ones able to view that section
