I have a question about marriages in indian culture vs western cultures (speaking as someone from both) - is it an acceptable thing in india for a man to marry a woman to take care of his home and family and not love her? is that an acceptable arrangement?
i mean with DM the only times he feels sad for santu or is reminded of her value is when it relates to his family and thier need of her rather than any moments they shared together.
i'm not saying its wrong or right it just feels a bit weird because here marriage between two people is borne out of love for each other first and then the family responsibilites/wishes etc are secondary... I think DM is confused anyway but i just can't see how the creatives are ever going to be able to show him falling in LOVE with HER, as a person, rather than just respecting and valuing her as a mother/daughter which he does now.

yes, in India they don't really look aft the fact weather the man loves the woman or not ... Especially in rural areas like Dharampur ...
its usually just thought tht the parent's burden is no longer there once they marry their daughters to a family ...
hope this is helpful ...
