The caste system should not be tolerated by a single human being. No one is superior/inferior in the eyes of God, everyone is equal.

I agree with FLGators, I have seen some of this stuff too. In my dad's village, the non-Brahmin servants don't serve the purohits who come to conduct the pujas, and they cannot even be seen while the purohits are eating. I was pretty shocked by that.
When my husband and I wanted to get married (he is not Brahmin and I am), the family purohit refused to perform our wedding, saying to please forgive him, but he had his code of morals, and he would not perform any non-Brahmin weddings. 😕
While I am sometimes stunned at these thoughts, I realize that it takes several generations for change to come. Also, though there was so much drama about our marriage, people have really come around now, and my husband is loved like crazy. Everyone says he is my parents' nicest son-in-law, which is true, heh heh.

Just like I would not be offended as a woman just because they show a woman in poor light
there are enough brahmins on the show who are portrayed as being exemplary ... Dev, Shastriji, Dev's dad, Dadi, etc). I come from a progressive family of brahmins but have been exposed to a few ammas and a few Shastrijis in my life. In general, you dont find such extremes - most people are in the middle.
For people who pass general remarks about hindus/brahmins based on this show - Most religions have their sects and classes .. Hinduism is no different. Just like in other religions , there are people who will exploit something that was written a few hundred years back to suit their purpose. There are others who will find a way to overcome/override it.

Rajsri, I agree with you.... There are so many ammaji/Shushil in every religion who will exploit the religion for their own purpose... God just made human he did not made any cast or any division....So In God's sight all are equal but the humans have all these divisions...
I have lived in India in those areas (north eastern region) where these caste system is very much in effect.. I have seen people who would not allow certain people to enter in the house and after they visit they even wash the wooden chair they sit on... I have seen with my own eyes.. have question those attitude.. have objected.. but was able to make liitle impact..
So Yes these things are very much there.. and I think DJs is doing fantastic job addressing these issues..
And As I said before -- Television is powerful media to address this kind issues.. and make people aware that these things are wrong and at the end of the day only truth wins and righteous wins..
Those who are real brahmins like shastriji/Dadiji have my salutes... and who are not can learn some good from this..

very true
soaps are meant to entertain or give good social messege not hurt religious sentiments...
nowadays girls boys are exposed to distance colleges and remote jobs...they inter act fall in love due to cerebral compatibility damn care for caste religion...
avoid such sensivities...
do not drag the serial....further it may loose track...everyone likes love romance in life which is brief and unpredictable
wake up creatives you cannot ignore viewers
