Stepping outside ,they saw his car almost buried in a thick coat of snow , and he sighed at the thought of having to brush it off.
She subtly suggested that they walk home, and he jumped at the idea, even though it was freezing. They began walking towards her house.....snow falling down.
Walking home was just like the countless nights of years past when he had walked her home-befor he got his car ,ofcourse. He was her best friend in the world, and he still is.That's really important to her in a boyfriend-to be able to be friends too. They talked about christmas(since it was christmas night) and the magic it used to hold.
She told him how she remember being little and waking up on christmas morning. There was a different feeling,as if that day was truly special . Christmas had magic , and the past few years it just had'nt. It feels like an ordinary day when gifts are exchanged. It's nice and all,but it just was'nt the same. They talked a lot about christmas magic that night. He walked her to her door where he stopped and smiled. His smile was big and and excited, like he'd never been happier. It made her feel good all over.It felt like magic. They hugged good night, real sweet, and as she pulled away, she whispered,"Thank you....for putting the magic back in Christmas."
He smiled again,as she knew he would. He nodded and kissed her on the cheek again."Good night" he whispered. He stood waiting until she got inside to turn away.
She looked around once more,at the snow falling down.It was beautiful. Then she said Good night and went inside.
She ran until she could see him in a distance.Looking at him through the falling snow, she knew that he was just what she needed, all that she needed. She stopped for a minute thinking about the risk she was taking. He might not.......infact,he probably would'nt say those words back. She knew he had never said them to any girl,so why her?Why would he suddenly feel like saying them? But who cares? It did'nt matter. She knew he loved her anyway;she could tell that from his goofy smile. It was'nt about him saying it;it was about her saying it.She had to.
She kept running. She realised she was still crying. The snow was still falling. As she got closer,he slowly turned around.....and she ran into his arms and cried on his shoulders. That was the only place she wanted to be.
He stroked her hair and tried to calm her.She pulled away and told him what happened."I got in my room",she sobbed,"and I just started crying.I cried,because.....you just make me.....so happy.I just........I love you,and you don't have to say anything.I just love you and I need for you to know that."
He pulled her close. "I know",he whispered."I love you",He said. She remembered all the snow in his hairand the melted snow dripping on his face.
She remembered him picking her up,but he did'nt have to because she was already flying. She remember the way the Christmas lights glittered off the snow. She remembered him placing his warm lips on hers and giving her the most passionate kiss a man could ever have given to a woman till she got breathless, and his lips felt so warm in a world so cold. She remember when he hugged her and they stayed holding each other for a very long time....
she remembers each part of that night....and knew that......IT WAS REAL........
