Oh god the pelvic thrusts and the chakmak shirts. Maybe I am reading too much into the lyrics, but "ladki nahi khulti, khidki nahi khulti"??!!?!??

Ok I am going to keep this place PG.

Adios,

Don't worry. I am not upset with you. I just very seriously stuck to my decision not to come back to this thread, till I was told about this howlarious song being posted here.

I don't have any problems debating with people. And it is only fun to do so when there are some opposing opinions. But I guess I felt exhausted when I had to defend myself against stuff I hadn't even said.

Great song. Are they banned here? I bet they can be obtained too. But yes, obviously fairness creams do have more harsh chemicals in them. In that respect, self tanners just make you look like foolish, all orange in color, compared to skin cancer from UV rays, it is safer. It is all about culture and of course being pale is not a big there here although it is with hipsters for some reason (sorry, that is an inadvertent diss), there are more natural ways to do things. Turmeric paste and other such herbal things at the end of the day are better for yourself and your skin. Although in South Asia, it tends to be a problem. No matter how many laws are passed, change starts at the ground level. And people have to change their attitudes. Change in attitude depends on what you see in society and speaking out on it if you see if something is wrong and not just accepting it the way it is because it is the status quo. Then again, it is legal so I definitely think she is more than allowed to do it, it just means I can lose respect for those that agree to do them.

I think they are banned here.. but I am not sure.. cauz I herd something on oprah regarding tis..I know but these beliefs that people have are going on for centuries.. It would take a whole of time to convice people about tis.. but this doesnt mean it should be given up.. I guess education is the root cure for all these things.. better educate Indians.. and tat is just not the city people.. getting their degrees.. but educating the whole India...

Adios, There was nothing to forgive.

As far as fairness creams, and their endorsement is considered, I obviously have very strong opinions. And when the next star endorses I will criticize them as well. No matter how much I might sound like a stuck record.

Education is important. I also think if celebrities stop endorsing these creams, that too will go a long way. These creams don't really sell in villages. They are much more popular in urban areas, where you would assume people are educated, but a lot of biases still exist.

to some extent, it's true... however, i think it'll take a long time for this bias to end... mainly because these prejudices are so prevalent in our society, it is hard to change people's point of views... and it is a shame that these are much more popular in urban areas...
it'll be a while before such prejudices stop... one thing that would help though is a government ban...!!
