Salman whips up fan frenzy

New Delhi

"How did you build your body?"" When are you getting married?" were some of the queries that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan had to face from his crazy fans during a public appearance here.

The actor, who turned up to support the' India First' campaign along with Tamil dancer-turned director Prabhu Deva, revealed his patriotic side today as he encouraged the youth to become a more responsible citizen of India.

"I am an Indian. Nationalism is my religion. Wanted responsible citizens who think about India first,"said the actor, who is in the city to promote his upcoming movie'Wanted'.

But the young students, who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the star seemed more keen to know details about his personal life and bombarded him with a number of questions.

They jostled and pushed each other to get close to the actor as the security people worked hard to keep the crowd at bay at a public function at Vijay Chowk in the heart of the city.

"Salman, please, please" a young girl begged the actor to shake hands with her and the actor obliged her by stepping out of his security enclosure.

Salman Khan joins Zee News campaign "India First" to unite Nation

MUMBAI: Moving ahead in its mission of empowering India through its unique India First campaign, Zee News gained the support of Salman Khan, Boney Kapoor and Prabhudeva; who not only appreciated the efforts of the channel but also supported the initiative in its true spirit. In an attempt to reach out to citizens in the capital, the star cast of the forthcoming movie WANTED partnered Zee News to motivate and educate the populace to come together and forget all the differences to make India First.

At an oath taking ceremony organised by the channel at Vijay Chowk, the celebrities interacted with the youth and formed a Human Chain to spread the message. Appealing to fellow citizens, Salman Khan said, "I am an Indian. Nationalism is my religion ... WANTED responsible citizens who think about INDIA FIRST". As responsible citizens of the country and feeling for the cause Salman and other celebrities encouraged people to forget all the differences like caste, language, religion and region and unite to work towards the betterment of the country.

Subsequently, Zee News also conducted a signature campaign and encouraged people to pledge to make India first in all instances. In addition, students from educational institutions also performed a skit and cultural programmes in sync with the initiative. After the performances, Salman Khan distributed CDs, T- shirts and bracelets of his soon to be released movie "Wanted".

Successfully running for over a month, the 'India First' campaign has also garnered support from noted personalities like Baichung Bhutia, Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapur, Suniel Shetty and many more. Conceptualized to live up to the vision of Mahatma Gandhi's 'India of my dream', India First is yet another endeavour from the Zee News stable to encourage and inspire millions of Indians to believe in themselves and pledge to work towards the betterment of the country.

NOIDA - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was late by almost two hours for an event here late Wednesday but he made up for all of it by dancing with the audience and crooning a song from his forthcoming film "Wanted".

Despite a shower, the crowd just didn't budge, waiting for the star and screaming "Salman, Salman".

Clad in a pair of blue jeans and an earthy tee, he set the stage on fire when he gave up to their cries of "Salman sing, Salman dance" and sung "Love me, love me" from the film and shook a leg too.

The actor was at the Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT), Marwah Studios, to promote "Wanted", releasing Sep 18.

Produced by Boney Kapoor, it has been debut-directed by choreographer Prabhu Deva. It also stars Ayesha Takia in the lead.

Known for his macho image, Salman, who is foraying back into an all-action film with "Wanted", also promised "mindblowing" fight sequences in the thriller.

"There is a lot of action in the film and it is going to be mindblowing. Mind you, it has all been done by me and not by a body double," he said.

"We haven't even used the usual cable work that much, so it has been very difficult and I even pulled a hamstring during one of the running sequences that took three months to heal. But it has all been worth the effort," he added.

Also present at the event were the director and the film's music composer duo Sajid-Wajid alongside AAFT boss Sandeep Marwah.
