Mumbai: With post-production delays having pushed the release of both Hrithik Roshan's Kites and Shah Rukh Khan's My Name is Khan(MNIK) to early next year, it left a clear field for Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots, one of the most anticipated films of the year. But now there's word that this one is unlikely to be released this year.

Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots is likely to be delayed While Kites and MNIK have been tentatively pushed to January and February 2010, Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots (inspired by Chetan Bhagat's Five Point Someone) is likely to miss its December 25 release date.
DNA has learnt that Hirani called a hush-hush meeting with people associated with the film to break the news. A source present at the meeting reveals: "Raju told us that there is a possibility that the film might not release this year at all. The reason for this setback is Aamir Khan's sudden personal crisis. Aamir is not keen to work right now and has conveyed that he needs two months off. He wants to be beside Kiran Rao.
The problem is that shooting of 3 Idiots is not over. Aamir has to shoot a special song with Kareena Kapoor for the film and there are several portions involving Aamir in the film which need to be shot. The post-production can't start because of this.
No one has been shown the first cut. We don't know when the film will roll again as Aamir has not given dates to Raju till now. In such a situation, the film certainly cannot meet the December 25 deadline and Raju told us to be prepared for it."
When contacted, even Rajkumar Hirani could not confirm that the planned release date would be met. "We are trying our best to meet the deadline," he said.
