Good Ol' Doordarshan

I would like to use this thread to remember the days of Doordarshan where India TV had its genesis in. Why? I stumbled upon this: http://broadband.bigflix.com/bigflicks/faces/jsp/tvVideoPlayer.jsp?channelId=SP+TV&titleId=2714

While I personally didn't watch Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, I remember joining with the family to catch Dekh Bhai Dekh, Zabaan Sambhal Ke, Mr. Bean, Junoon and Jungle Book, for instance. I'm sure there were many more which my mind can't recall. So please join in on this trip to remember the times when we weren't spoilt for choices and were happy with what little was served on our platters. 😊

hey @flixter , thank you very much that u made a post on doordarshan serials , i wish to have doordarshan back on tv , i mostly like every drama of doordarshan 😉 😃 😛

aurat(my parents loved this show)

tehkikaat (best detective show)

he-man and the masters of the universe

morning shows....aahhh they were a delight

surabhi...what a show!!!!!!

jungle book (who can forget this classic)

jugalbandi...(one more fantastic show...benjamin gilani and radha seth)

chitrahaar...

ads...i love those air which used to air for one complete hour....now they irritate

kaakiji kahin (om puri)

school days

koi sapna daal par nahin hai (tv movie)

and still many more

hey mannu , i also like aurat serial 😊and zabaan sambal ke is very entertaining and tehkikaat is an intresting detective serial too 😊 and do u remember ekta serials like captain house and itihaas? i think so they also used to come on doordarshan 😛

i remember ithihaas...actually after these shows...we were switched to CAble Tv and doordarshan was never on the first place..hence i dont remember the shows aired after these which i know😊

yeah shekhar suman and farida jalal were in tht..tht was classic..there are also some serials their names i dont remember...yes one was rajni...very nice show...one more a group of aadawasi women led by pallavi joshi forgotten its name and yes shahrukh's fauji...they were very nice😃

After a time when DD Metro was this "entertainment" arm of DD while DD1 went onto air the news, and stuff. And most of the shows listed above were from DD Metro, including Dekh Bhai Dekh. In fact, the first thing that comes to my mind when someone says Dekh Bhai Dekh is DD Metro.

Yup, direct for cable releases. Don't think the Sahara one caught on though...at least I never saw any of them.

Remember Aamir releasing a day after its release? And the MF Hussain movie - Gaja Ghamini.
