Actress arrested for assaulting 10 year old domestic help

Seems the stars need to be given an all new outlook towards their domestic help. First it was the Shiney Ahuja's rape case and now, there is yet another episode of domestic help abuse where a television actress, Urvashi Dhanorkar, was arrested on Saturday on the charges of beating and burning her 10-year-old maid because the child had been "caught eating."

The actress brought this ten-year old girl, Rameshwari, from Amravati last April promising her parents that she would look after her upbringing and education. Little did this minor know that she would be forced to work as a maid in Urvashi's home in the posh Royal Palms Complex in Versova.

A week ago, when Urvashi caught Rameshwari eating, she banged the child's head against a wall and burnt her arms. Then she locked her at home and allowed outside only a couple of days ago. It was then that the neighbors and social activists noticed the signs of physical abuse and took her to the police where Rameshwari reported that she was never given sufficient food and had been physically abused and tortured repeatedly in the past few months.
