Written Update 13 & 14 August 2009

Aug 13

Chacha calls Chachi and tells her that he will be back by Janmashtami and she should return after that. Chachi is happy. Raka and Chotu are eating at Geeta's house. They ask Seeta where she got the food from and she says she made it. They both stand up shocked and Raka again tells Chotu to hold him or he'll faint. Just then the basti people come and complain to Seeta that their electricity is gone and she has to come and fix the transformer or they'll all suffer loses. Seeta is perplexed and Raka steps in and says that she is not feeling well. But the basti people don't listen. Then Raka says they'll all go and have a talk with the authorities and find a permanent solution for this rather than stealing electricity every day.

Geeta again makes Ranjit do work by asking him to take out and sell the old newspapers. She reads in the current paper about the basti's electricity situation and is shocked. At the electricity office Raka, Seeta and a bunch of people come to talk to the officer. But he is rude to them and says that the basti is of "chor" and they, especially Geeta steals electricity like there is no law in the land and so he won't listen to anything they have to say. Raka argues with him while Seeta is just looking on confused and surprised by what she hears. Raka tells him to come and fix a meter in the basti but they won't do it because they only give electricity to the builders and the malls but not to poor people. Seeta walks out after hearing that the basti is of crooks and Geeta is their head. Raka looks around for Geeta and then walks out looking for her. He tells Seeta not to worry about that guy and he'll come to his sense if he is bribed and they'll get electricity soon and if not then they can think of another plan like old times. Seeta just looks on worried.

At night the basti people are agitated and start being angry with Geeta for not having done anything. Raka comes to her defense and reminds them that Geeta takes their money but spends it on the basti only and whatever is left is given for their kids' education. Seeta is inside listening to everything. She prays to goddess idol that these people have a lot of expectations from Geeta and she won't be able to do anything for them so she should tell them the truth. She comes out to tell them but the electricity returns and everyone starts celebrating and thanking her. She thinks that maybe its God's will that she remain in the basti as Geeta. The officer comes and tells Seeta that he got a call from a minister and he returned their electricity and not to complain about him and take his job.

Geeta is standing in front of the minister with Dadi and thanks him. He says its not a problem as he was their father's classmate and if she ever needs anything then to come to him. In the basti, Raka asks Seeta if she really knows a big minister like that. Then he gets suspicious and asks if she really is their Geeta and Seeta is shocked.

Aug 14

Seeta comes back to Geeta's kholi. Raka follows her and asks her how the minister agreed. But then answers himself that he knows Geeta must have changed her voice and called the minister or made someone else call him. He says how happy he is that she is starting to get back to her normal self. He then tells her that they will celebrate janmashtami like they always did and if she remembers that. But Seeta is looking confused and he tells her not to worry and she'll remember tomorrow.

The next day Janmashtami celebration is going on in the basti. Raka comes wearing a kurta and Chotu and him talk about matki phodoying tradition. They say that this year there is a mobile being given as prize for breaking the matki. They see Seeta going towards the Kanha idol in the basti and wonder if she is going there to threaten the devotees.

Raka goes next to Seeta as she is doing arti and he asks the pandit if the bhajan mandali is not here yet. Seeta starts singing a bhajan and Raka just watches shocked. Geeta is doing arti with Dadi, Bablu and Ramu kaka. A bunch of people are at their house to celebrate. After bhajan Raka asks Seeta what kind of accident did she have as her brain was rewired but her throat became clearer. Seeta silently puts the tilak on him and then on chotu. The kids in the basti start to try and phodo the matki. Chotu comes to Seeta with some color and ask her to join but Raka tells him to leave her alone and play with the kids. Then Raka tries to instigate her saying that only he can break the matki and no one else in the basti can do it. But Seeta is silent. He asks how come she has no voice now as just a minute ago she was singing the bhajan so loudly.

Geeta feeds the people who came to her house and Dadi and Ramu kaka are happy that the celebration is happening according to their tradition (Geeta is looking very beautiful in a salwar). Raka and Seeta are watching the boys in the basti trying to break the matki and Raka finally says that the kids are getting tired so its time for him to step in. He takes off his kurta and Seeta looks away feeling shy. He gets up on the human pyramid, while on the other side Geeta is dancing with the people in her house. Ranjit is looking at Geeta celebrating and wonders why Chacha hasn't come yet. Chacha steps in and sees the celebration and slowly walks to Geeta. On the other side Raka successfully breaks the matki while Chacha comes to Geeta and grabs her and slaps her across the face. Suddenly Seeta holds her cheek because she felt the slap.

Geeta looks at Chacha furiously while Sonia and Ranjit are happy. Chacha asks what happened in the two days that he is away that she is flying high now. He asks how she could scare away a scarecrow like Manorama. He says some things about how in front of him she can't do anything. Then he sees Krishna's idol inside and says so this is where the strength is coming from. He goes and takes the plate of flowers and throws it saying he had stopped this tradition because he didn't want God's presence to give any false hope to these people. He rants on that he is the most powerful in this house and everything he says will go and everyone should bow down to him and not this God. Geeta just looks on dangerously at him.
