Should India let there be a Khalistan?

Hi friends my question is a offshoot of "Operation Blue Star" !! As many of you know about the Golden Temple attack in 1984 . Also the separatist movement by Bhindranwale . Fortunately , then it was crushed and India was not forced to be divided .

Well it seems there are still the expatriates Sikhs(especially Canada and U.K) that dream of carving India and asking for a Khalistan .(please refer to page 3 in post :Operation Blue Star) They feel Sikhs in India are being discriminated against . Strangely the Indian Sikhs disagree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Except for a handfull Extremist !!!!!!!!!!!

What is your opinion of these demands by the Sikhs living in Canada and U.K???????????????!!!!!!!!! Should the get Khalistan in a Country, India they don't even live in ??????????????????

P.S - Please be extra cautious about the religous sentiments of the Sikhs and other religons !!!!! Any one making insulting attacks towards a religon ...........the post will be edited and warning sent .

The region demanded as Khalistan was is and will be a part of India as the present state of Punjab with Chandigarh as its captial city. Like every other state Punjab is a devleoping region with its pluses and minuses. The people of Punjab will be unable to sustain themselves economically and politically as a sepearte nation even if hypothetically formed.

The demand for a seperate Khalistan was made and the sad battle fought. The Indian sentiment prevailed over the Khalistan sentiment and the rest is history.

If the request is made again by Indians in India who have contirbuted to the Indian society then yes the request will be considered. People who do not have the right to vote in India do not have the right to make requests that affect the Indian public in general for either Khalistan or even changing the traffic lights on a street.
Your voice is heard only where to contibute, either by law or based on your contribution to society.

So no Khalistan is not a realistic idea and lets not get bothered by it.

hey aparna, there is no question of giving in to khalistan. imagine tamil nadu will rebel tomorrow (LTTE), then arunachal pradesh, then assam - goodness me, we are a united india and we shall remain so. that is how i feel.

as for sikhs living in canada wanting khalistan (which the indian sikhs dont) they can seek a part of the land from the canadian govt (cos that is where they live!) to call it khalistan!

please no offence meant and this is not to violate your religious sentiments. you make demands to the country you live in, whose shelter you have taken,a land you have prospered in. this has nothing to do with god or faith or anything like that.

i dont know much abt the issue but if the sikhs actually living in india r ok with it thn y v NRi sikhz so keen on gettin a khalistan? it makes no sense cuz they dun even live in tht country nemore
