His role in 15, PARK AVENUE, may not have been as consequential but Rahul Bose has three very significant films lined up for release in the coming few months and he is counting on all of them to make a big difference to his career. There's Buddhadev Das Gupta's KAAL PURUSH, which is scheduled for an April release and according to Bose, will also have a Mumbai release. "I consider it as one of my best performances," he says. That will be followed by the English film, THE WHISPERERS (May release), in which he is co-starring with Manoj Bajpai "The film is a psychological thriller of a man who rises to the top against all odds," he reveals. The film is a very special one to him, as he has also written its screenplay. "It is a story that is very close to my heart and writing the screenplay of the film was an experience of sorts," he reveals.
Then there's PYAAR KE SIDE EFFECTS, which Bose defines as a clean, romantic comedy with loads of entertainment. It is also the first time that he's attempting a mainstream film. However Bose insists that it is not an out and out commercial film, as one would believe. "I would say it is more on the lines of JHANKAR BEATS and not a commercial film in the true sense of the term," he says. The film has been the subject of curiosity for another reason, though the presence of Mallika Sherawat who plays Bose's love interest in the film. He seems to be anticipating the obvious question when you ask him about the experience of working with the enigmatic Mallika Sherawat.
"She is a smart, sensitive, unpretentious and hard-working actress, who has a clear idea of how she is perceived and what she wants from her career and of course, she's a great co-star to work with," he says rather matter-of-factly.
Meanwhile, he has signed an international project with Santosh Sivan, which is currently being shot in Kerala. The film has been produced by a Hollywood based company called, Echolake, and is a period film set in the pre-independence period. Bose plays an educated villager who is eager to bring about a reformation in his village.
