Is an ageing population a good thing?
In the next few decades the world's population aged 60 and over will more than triple from 600 million to two billion. Is this a problem or a good thing?
For the first time in human history there will be more people aged over 60 than children under 15. Most of this increase is occurring in developing countries where the number of older people will grow from 400 million to 1.7 billion.
The BBC's World Today programme on the World Service will be looking at various aspects of dealing with an ageing population. They will be talking to experts and the elderly about these issues and also want to hear from you.
Is the government in your country doing enough to prepare for this new demographic? What is the secret to a long life? Would you like to live forever? Have you or anyone you know suffered from age discrimination?
