"We have always tried to do something new and different with Kumkum. This time around we will be playing with the romantic track between the three key characters — Kumkum (Juhi Parmar), Jatin (Anuj Saxena), and Sumeet (Hussain). Kumkum has never denied her undying love for Sumeet, but with Jatin coming back in her life things have taken an interesting turn."

Sanjay reveals that around end of February or early March, the show will go back in time.

"We will be showing what Kumkum went through, in terms of her relation with Jatin and feelings for Sumeet. We will go back five years in time to show a different Kumkum. She will not only look different, wearing salwaar-kameez and churidars than the usual sarees we see her in, but also be thrown in difficult circumstances."

Buzz is all humbug

What about the buzz that the show is taking a 20-year leap late this year? "I have heard this buzz. But it's all humbug. Kumkum is definitely not taking anyn leap. Though unlike other shows we are leaping back rather than going ahead." So what will be the prime focus of Kumkum this year?

"Keeping with the tradition of taking various relationship issues head-on many new characters will be added to the show this year. We are also working on a different look and feel for the show. Smart promos of the show are also planned which will highlight the additions made in the show".

When Juhi Parmar was contacted to discuss the buzz about the leap she said, "I definitely don't think there is a 20 year age leap happening on the show. I don't think the viewers want to see me greying so soon. If there will be any jump, I would love to play the role of Kumkum's daughter wearing short skirts in a different avatar."
