Happy Birthday Sunil Shetty!

Fondly known as Anna in the industry, Sunil Shetty is one of the few original action heroes in town. Shetty reined Bollywood since his debut in 1992 and is one of the most respected actors in the biz.

Apart from working in close to a 100 films already, the actor has also dabbled his hands in the restaurant business, adventure sports, eye wear and has his own production house. On the occasion of his 48th birthday, we take a look at Anna's most memorable films of all time.

Mohra (1994)

While his debut Balwaan didn't cause much ripples on the box office, action thriller Mohra, bought Shetty on the Bollywood forefront. One of the major hits of 1994, the film also starred Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal and Naseeruddin Shah. His portrayal of the jilted human pawn, Vishal Malhotra is one of his best performances till date.

Gopi kishan (1994)

Sunil Shetty excelled in his first full blown comedy cum action film. His first double role as well, he played the simpleton Gopi and the sophisticated Kishan magnificently. There are some memorable scenes in the film, and definitely a must watch for many.

Border (1997)

Sunil Shetty's series of patriotic films began with the successful Border. The story of men in uniform, Sunil played his part with lan and panache. And the heart-wrenching tale of the soldiers at war and their personal lives struck a chord with audiences all over. The actor was even nominated for a Filmfare for supporting actor in the film.

Dhadkan (2000)

His efforts didn't go in vain when he finally received his first Filmfare for Best Villain for his role in Dhadkan. He made a conniving Dev out to bring Akshay Kumar on the streets. The film was a blockbuster success and the music was a hit with the audience, truly a well-deserved win.

Hera Pheri (2000)

Probably the most memorable Sunil Shetty film of all time is Hera Pheri, teaming up with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, the end result was a boxoffice phenomenon. The hilarious film bought Sunil Shetty back in the limelight after several mediocre films. The comic timing of all three was stupendous and Sunil's portrayal of the gullible Ghanshyam was fantastic.

Red Alert (2009)

Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost...

Sunil's forthcoming film has already received rave reviews from the West. Awarded in a prestigious German film festival, the story of a man trapped in the Naxalite war has been defined as the finest films ever made on the topic. Also starring Sameera Reddy, Sunil Shetty is said to have given a gut-wrenching performance and is definitely a must watch film for Anna fans!
