Teree Sang: A kidult love story with a sensitive issue

Mumbai, August 7: 'Teree Sang' is Bollywood's first film about teenage pregnancy. Highlighting a strong message on teenage sex, 'Teree Sang' revolves around premature parenthood.

It's the story of a bubbly 15-year-old Delhi girl, Maahi (Sheena Shahabadi), who belongs to a prosperous family but misses her parent's love as they always remain busy in their professions.

As a result, she gets friendly with a boy Kabir (Ruslaan Mumtaz), who hails from a middle class background.

On the eve of New Year, the young couple goes on a camping trip. They share a passionate kiss which leads to an intimate relation between the duo and soon Maahi gets pregnant.

Reacting to this, Maahi's father, a rich lawyer threatens to sue Kabir's father, a rickshaw driver. But the kids run away from home and from then on follows a struggling journey for the young couple.

The entire first half is so real and identifiable that one gets instantly drawn towards Kabir and Maahi's worlds.

But the second half is not so real. The couple striving for parenthood, and getting an instant job and a spacious house with all the amenities in a matter of few days seem utterly unreal.

Nevertheless, director Satish Kaushik has made a sincere attempt to entice the audience with such a bold and a sensitive issue.

Sheena looks perfect for her role. Her confidence and performance both are wonderful. Ruslaan, who was first and last seen in 'Mera Pehla Pyaar', also enacts the boy next door part with ease.

Rajat Kapoor and Neena Gupta, playing the role of Maahi's parents, have done an excellent job too.

The audience will simply love the warmth of director Satish Kaushik and Sushmita Mukherjee Bundela, who are playing Kabir's parents. Anupam Kher is also seen in a crisp brief role.

Though the film is lying low at the box office, it's a must watch for the parents.
