@Anu: I agree that Rati was good and Arjun was not as good, however the camera angles were also bad like always...I think the ONLY time the camera angle was right n everything seemed to fall in place was during that forest hug. Till date, NONE of the hugs between MN gave me the goose bumpy feeling which that one gave *sigh* what a hug that was......N's characteristic impulse and M's characteristic balance (he did not hug her even on a reflex, he was so controlled) were shown so subtly in that one- the contrast between the two characters was brought out SO well which is what made that hug SO special n unique- it had THE MAYANK n NUPUR MAGICAL touch......

Leaving aside all my prejudices against how MN track is proceeding (or how changed /not changed they are) and not getting to further discussions about whether love/ loooowwwwe/ lowe (however u wanna spell it)/ cardboard date / locket/ ' be my RAJ ' is justified and also ignoring the Shaheed dialogue... I simply considered it as a hug btw two individuals Mayank and Nupur premise being the former has to time and agin prove himself and latter nw bein guilty of what she has done.

I was reminded of the SBS telecast where Arjun n Rati have a small argument and then Arjun very sweetly comes wth a rose to pataofy Rati. Rati accepts the flower but she is not able to reciprocate the same enthu as Arjun did.

Not blamin any of the two. Its jus that some ppl find it difficult to change their mood in an instant. 'Forgive' may be not 'Forget' easily. Agin i'm not saying one person is right or wrong.... jus observing ppl's behavioural pattern.

Similar situation with role reversal - Nupur is the one who is guilty after putting him thru all 'prove urself' stuff so her reaction is that of --' oh ive been so silly.I shudnt ve done it to him. He's ALWAYS been there for me. I realize my folly'
Whereas M reaction reflected the sentence he said 'Mein bolta nahi hoon.. iska matlab yeh nahi ki mein hurt nahi hota' ..coz he is the one whose been put thru all the tests. His hug was more of --' I hope I dont ve to keep proving myself. I hope she understands me atleast nw' . It was with a bit of skepticism.

May be its hard for him to change his mood so instantly as Nupur did...when there is a bit of skepticism in his mind.
It was more of ' hope things will be alright from now' rather than passionate hug.
So I think Arjun did a okie job with tht.

As I said its jus my interpretation.

I think it was more of a cute hug rather than an emotional or passionate one that MN usually have. So I dont think anything was missing per say, I found it adorable!

Ananya, I loved the way YOU interpreted it , I'd have been happier had the show conveyed the same to everyone, which, it unfortunately didn't n hence the clash of opinions on the forum. I see that you want to say "though the premise wasn't good, the outcome was" which was the case with that 'drug' track too, what I fail to understand is WHY is it that the 'creatives' ALWAYS use comical, unconvincing, senseless,superficial, silly/dumb n frivolous premises to give us a poignant MN moment ?

Let me also add that when I say that I appreciate subtlety, I don't mean that I prefer things to be obscure or completely invisible.
