Sankranthi is a festival celebrated here in India. If I am not mistaken it is celebrated to commemorate the good harvest and to thank gods for the womderful year that HE has given us.

thanks dear.... i just got back from the temple... waiting to eat all the yummy stuff mom's made...

well this festival is also called pongal... and we tamilians celebrate it as a harvest festival... same as lodhi...
down south, ppl usuall decorate the mandir at home with rangolis and a flank the idols with two sugarcane stalks... and we make this dish called pongal... u MIGHT have eaten it somewhere... i don't like it much... but i sure LOOOVE the sweeter version that's also made during this time...

in south its pongal in centeral india its makar sakranti n its north its lohri we celebrate lohri n wich we make bonfires n njoy dance around d nbonfire eat popo*n n peanuts give some to d fire lord its is said its d last day of winter n after lhri srping or summer season strts

hey yeah... we are going to have the bonfire soon... maybe this nite?
btw, even i thought it was popcorn i was throwing in the fire... but someone told me those are lotus seeds... 😊

ok... i dunno... because i LOVE popcorn... n when we were throwing those things in the fire, i just tried one... it was HORRIBLE!
and i asked someone, "what is this thing that we are throwing in the fire... isn't it popcorn?" and they said it was lotus seeds 😕 ...
