Kumkum follows Gudiya's fate
The tragic tale of Gudiya will be incorporated into the serial

Gudiya's story has obviously caught the fancy of our storytellers. The tragic tale of the girl who was trapped by fate when her husband 'disappeared' and later returned from Pakistan where he had been held prisoner, has already inspired Prabhakar Shukla to direct a film in her memory titled Kahani Gudiya Ki. Now Star Plus's afternoon soap Kumkum Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan will have a similar track introduced in it story.
A channel source reveals, "Very soon Jatin (played by Anuj Saxena) will regain his memory. Then will begin the trauma in Kumkum's (played by Juhi Parmar) life."
When Jatin regains his memory, Kumkum will be in a dilemma. Should she return to Jatin whom she was married to but who later went missing, or should she continue to live with Sumit (played by Hussain), her brother-in-law whom she married after Jatin was presumed dead?
Incidentally, she was forced to marry Sumit when she was carrying Jatin's child. Now she is pregnant with Sumit's child.
How Jatin regains his memory and whom Kumkum finally chooses to stay with, will add the twists to the tale. At present, however, the channel and the production house (BAG Films) seem undecided about the turn of events. "We'll decide on the storyline, depending on audience response," is all they're willing to say.
In the meanwhile, speculation is rife about the serial taking a generation leap. Incidentally, this soap happens to be one of the serials that has not had a generation leap in its story, so far. "It's an idea, but we may not implement it just yet," says Sanjay Upadhyay, creative head, BAG Films.
