Lengthy new interview with Jo Rowling

Tatler Magazine sat down with Jo Rowling recently for an in-depth interview, the full version of which will hit magazine stands on Thursday. The Telegraph has published a good portion of the interview on their website, and it's quite the intriguing read - one of the most open interviews she's given in the past few years.

There are far too many quotable quotes to include here, but the article does contain some new information in addition to mounds of new quotes: Jo will host a fundraising masked ball at Stirling Castle ("one of the many attractions will be a treasure hunt with clues set by her") on March 17, and she has completed a new childrens' book, which she calls a "political fairy story," aimed at children younger than Harry Potter-reading age. "I haven't even told my publisher about this," she said.

GOF shortlisted for Sound Effects Oscar

Goblet of Fire is one of seven films being considered by Academy Award voters for the Best Sound Editing Oscar. The competition:

"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"
"King Kong"
"Memoirs of a Geisha"
"Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith"
"Walk the Line"
"War of the Worlds"

Ten-minute clips from each movie will be shown at special screenings on January 24, after which voters will select three of the seven movies on the above shortlist to receive actual nominations.

GOF nominated for 5 VES Awards
	The Visual Effects Society announced the nominees for the 4th Annual VES Awards today, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire received the following five nominations: Outstanding Visual Effects, Outstanding Animated Character (the Hungarian Horntail), Outstanding Created Environment (the Black Lake), Outstanding Models and Miniatures (Hogwarts), and Outstanding Compositing (Voldemort's nose).

GOF breaks records in IMAX

Warner Bros. announced today that, as well as taking the box office cake for 2005 in conventional theatres, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has now become the most successful film ever to be released in IMAX theatres, grossing $16 million since its November 18 release

Dan Fellman of WB said, "IMAX has established a new distribution platform that generates incremental revenues for event films, and integrating the IMAX release into the entire Harry Potter campaign contributed to the continuing excitement and success of the film."

Katie Leung Suggested for Young Scot Award

Katie Leung, who plays Cho Chang in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire', has been suggested as a nominee in the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2006. These awards will honor the achievements of the young people of Scotland. It is open to nominees 22 years old or younger.

Early Peek At the GOF DVD?

DavisDVD.com has posted a preview of the 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' DVD packaging, which is rumored to hit the stores on March 7th, 2006. At this time, this should only be viewed as a rumor until confirmed by Warner Brothers. You may view the image here and at the DavisDVD site here.

Signed HBP Makes 4500 for Hospice

As previously reported, J.K. Rowling has donated a first edition signed copy of 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' to be auctioned on Ebay to raise funds for Peace Hospice. The auction has now ended, with the winning bid 4,500.00 (just under $8,000.00 U.S.). The winner will also receive a personalized letter from JKR.

J.K. Rowling Confirms New Children's Book Written; Will Host New Charity Ball in March

In the new interview published in the February edition ofTatler magazinethat we told you about below, author J.K. Rowling confirms again that she has written a new children's book and more. In extended excerpts now posted online from the magazine, Jo talks about her writing life post-Potter:

A new children's book is also complete. It is about a monster and is what Rowling calls a "political fairy story". It is aimed at children younger than those who read Harry Potter. "I haven't even told my publisher about this." There are also some short stories already written.

Also, the article says Jo will be hosting a ball at Stirling Castle on March 17th, in order to raise money for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis, a cause near and dear to her . Jo is also a patron of the MS Society of Scotland. This ball is said to feature " a treasure hunt with clues set by her."
