Qazi Touqeer steps into Balaji gurukul

Qazi Touqeer, who bagged the Fame Jodi crown along with Ruprekha Banerjee in the Sony show, always wanted to be an actor. He just got his wish fulfilled. Ekta Kapoor offered him a 40-episode role in Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and the singer grabbed the part.

Confirms Ekta about Qazi's appearance in the serial, "It's a fabulous role and Qazi will be appearing on Valentine's Day (February 14). It's an interesting character and viewers will be kept guessing about what he's really all about."

Adds Shivangi Chauhan, creative head of Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai, "The Prithvi-Kripa track is veering towards a conclusion and we had been thinking of taking on a new character to add freshness to the story for some time. And we thought why not Qazi? He is the hottest thing happening and would be great for the serial."

She doesn't want to elaborate too much on Qazi's character as it's still being scripted out. But all she would reveal was, "Qazi will be playing a rockstar in the serial and performing with Kripa (Neha Bamb) on the shows. He will be shown as a big fan of Angad's who comes to learn singing from him.

We will be introducing Qazi in a big way like Angad (Iqbal Khan). This will be his first entry in any show, so we are planning to have a huge music concert where the Balaji actors will perform. We might even rope in Sunidhi Chahuan and other big singers as part of the show."

"At any event, there are some people who hog the limelight; they are the jaan of the party. I was always one of them. Everyone would call me the hero.

Nervousness is something I don't know. I enjoy myself on the stage. In Srinagar, I would always take part in the Saaz aur Awaaz concert, which was dubbed the Saaz aur Qazi concert. I always wanted to act and perform live. I can't bear the thought that I put so much into a song and, on screen, it is someone else singing. I will act and do playback only for myself. Or I'd rather do music videos."

What's on in the show

This week will reveal lots of exciting twists and turns in Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai. Says Shivangi, "Angad and Kripa will come back together again as the misunderstanding between them finally gets sorted out and Kripa realizes the true colours of Prithvi (Amit Tandon)."

It turns out that Josh had been murdered by Prithvi who is responsible for creating the misunderstandings between Angad and Kripa. Prithvi finally goes mad and ends up in a mental asylum.
