Rings a bell? That was what the promos of DDLJ proclaimed!N we all did!Now..Mayur tribute to Nupur's first love also has us sighing and drooling!
First of all I feel a confusion...should i eat my words or not?I have been saying having a confession scene was not a good idea...Now it seems it was...but would it have been better offstage...One thing for sure it wouldnt be as dramatic!
Lifeless with disappointmentThe scene starts off with an impact. The first thing I noticed was Nupur's lifeless stance. She was standing like a statue, oblivious to the stage,to the play that had been her dream,to everything..because she believed Mayank didnt love her....Hmmn!Love turning Nupur, the livewire, into a lifeless doll shows exactly the extent of her love.
Varun to Mayank
The transformation from Varun to Mayank was done in a minute but was so seen. When he was reciting the lines of play...they were like a good actor delievering lines perfectly.Yet when he turns and says:Main tumse pyaar karta hoon. There was a transformation...His eyes sparkled...there was a determination on every contour of his face. And he was Mayank to the core. The words were utterly Mayank-ish…I loved it when he said if anyone said that I will confess my love I would call him mad. Then his dialogues were fantabulous when he says how long will he keep loving her.
The background score kept up with each emotion he brought to light. But my favorite part in background score is when Mayank says Nupur…the shock in her face, the intensiti on his matched the abrupt change in music.
FlashbackI was time and again saying why RNBDJ wasn't an eyeopener and this time Mjht helped me prove my point. This is how a flashback should be.The scenes chosen werent random…Nupur wasn't either relieving their entire acquanintance…the scenes chosen were acting like visions proving a point…it was making nupur feel her love…realise Mayank loved her….it acted as an epihany…Fantabulous!
Nupur's confession
Wowee!Reminscent of dil toh pagal hai but what words…loved the way the writer stayed true to her character..the way she decribed her prince charming…the way she manuevered it to show her feelings…was great!!My fav line was "who akdu saru ladka mujhe itna pyaar bhi karta hai."
Loved her expression….true to her calibre…she looked like she had touched the sky and came back..she cried and she made it seem so real
But the cherry on the cake:Mayank Sharma!!
He was incredible when nupur was talking. The defeated look when nupur started moaning abt her prince charming…the flash of understanding…the happiness….the tears in his eyes..to use jane austen's words…he loved like one violently in love!!!Sigh!Loved your priceless eyes….
The hug!
Trust Mayank to want it to be simple!Trust Nupur to be filmly..they both said true to their character…and the way she ran to him was oh so sweet!N the look and the smiles…ahhh the bliss when love is reciprocated!
It was one memorable scene!Yes!I thought a simpler setting , just the two of them and an offstage confession would be fab!But right now….i am happy with what has been given!
What abt u?
