The first two episodes of the reality show have set the ball rolling

This week saw the launch of the much-awaited show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. Audiences had been waiting to see the kind of men who would apply to marry Rakhi Sawant and how she would choose her Mr Right. Well now we know — the guys include a cute-looking NRI from Canada, a handsome police officer from Kashmir, an engineer from Delhi, a Vaastu consultant from UP and a corporate executive from Jaipur among others. One would have thought that only men associated with the entertainment industry would have applied, but many of them are guys far removed from TV and Bollywood.
The first episode had the guys make a grand entry into Fateh Garh Palace (the venue for the Swayamvar) in vintage cars with gifts for the bride-to-be. Rakhi herself was looking pretty in a designer saree and it was a surprise to see her play the demure bride. The guys were a bit tonguetied at first, but they opened up in the party later that night.
The episode featuring Ravi Kishen, whom Rakhi considers a brother figure, was a real riot. In his inimitable style, he grilled the guys by asking them some amusing, but relevant questions about Rakhi, which left them stumped. It is both amusing and endearing to see the guys try their best to win Rakhi's affections, as Ram Kapoor hosts the show. It's been worth the wait.
NDTV Imagine has taken up a unique concept indeed. Do they have a winner on their hands with this one? Well, only time will tell.
