Talking about Rabindrasangeet....many songs of Parineeta had a distinct Rabindrageet touch to them. Especially Piyu Bole and Soona Man Ka Aangan. The part 'Phool phool bhanwara dole...' is the Hindi translation of 'Phole Phole Bhramar...', written and composed by Tagore. But it was credited to him...through dialogues in the movie.

I especially love the drumming part in O babua, yeh mahua...it goes...oh babua (dhad dhad dhad dhan), yeh mahua (dhad dhad dhad dhan)...all through every 1 and a half rythym.

I thought some of Dilshad's songs were very good too...so were Aishwarya's...but the thing was, they sang all Rafi sad songs...so the mentors...especially HR didn't like it. I don't know why....

Vinit's Patta patta buta buta was awesome...but then again, he copies Sonu, and Sonu copied Rafi...so it's the same thing.

Swananda sang, mostly, Asha's songs. J-L were the most intelligent mentors I think. They brought out the cue quality in every singer. Sounding like Asha, with that touchy-breezy sensousness is tough. And attempting her songs is even tougher. And singing them well is worthy of a place in the final 6. My mom always says that of the two sisters, barring some of Lata-Madan compositions, singing Asha's songs are the toughest. I agree with her. Bravo, swananda!!!

Hi adwarakanath, I am a bengali and I think the song "Phoole Phoole Dhole Dhole" is also inspired by some foregn (don't know, maybe french) song which tagore liked very much. His many song's tunes are inspired by foreign tunes (eg : Koto Baaro bhebechhinu). many tunes are given by his relative Dinendranath.

Songs like "meri bheegi bheegi si" from Anamika, "O sajna bahar aayee", "Chuu kar mere manko", "Tere mere milan ki ye raina" and many others are copied from bengali songs.

Swastika, Can you please list the originals that these songs have been copied from? I only have one "Na jeo na, rajani ekhono baaki" which is the same composition as "O sajna bahar aayee" by Salil da and would love to listen to the others...

Well, Salilda used many of his Hindi compositions in his bengali songs..and vice versa. And no, Meri Bheegi Bheegi is NOT copied. it's based on Raag Kirwani. Songs based on a Raag sound similar. Duh...

Well, the antara sounds comepletely similar. Maybe I am not that well informed about raags as you are. The bengali song is "Mone pore rubiraye, kobitaye tomake"

tere mere milan ki : Jodi tare nai chini go sheki
Chuu kar mere man ko: Aamar holo shuru, tomar holo shaara
Meri bheegi bheegi si is not coped as claimed by adawarakanath so I guess he is right. but these songs sound very similar, almost tune to tune.

By the way, has anyone of you ever analysed the Raags in a waveform analyser and a digital oscilloscope? My friend did it once and showed me the waveforms. Heavens, they are perfectly harmonic sinusoidal waveforms. No hint of ANY fourier components. That's as pure as sound can get. Interestingly, when the Royal Albert Hall analysed Lata's voice, they found her voice to be the most perfect in the world.

i also have just one word.........WOW
