“I do not know many stars except Shilpa Shetty

Australian singer and songwriter Peter Andre loves Indian music and looks forward to get acquainted with many Bollywood stars during the IIFA weekend in Macau, China.

Andre may have never visited India but he's excited to be rubbing shoulders with Indian film stars at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend, beginning June 11. The 'Mysterious Girl' singer, slated to perform during the fashion extravaganza on day two of the weekend, admitted his love for Indian music upon his arrival at the Venetian Resort in Macau.

"I love the music and what specially attracts me, which I don't think lots of western people are aware of, are the (musical) notes," Andre is quoted as saying by a news agency.


The English-born singer said he was honoured to be invited to IIFA, which is essentially a Bollywood event.

"It (Bollywood) is a massive massive industry and I am honoured to be invited here to perform. I am looking forward to meet all the stars, dancing and singing," Andre added.

But does he know any stars from the Hindi film industry?

"I do not know many stars except Shilpa Shetty and I think she is amazing…but wait for three days and I will give you all the names," he said.

Ask him about his favourite Hindi movie, and Andre surprises with his pick of the lot – 'Mother India'.

"When I was about 6-7 years old my parents wanted me to watch 'Mother India' and I loved the film. I think I have watched it for like 30 times," he added.

Besides performing at the fashion event, the 36-year-old singer will also present an award during the June 13th award ceremony.
