Mumbai: Vishal Bharadwaj is upset about the fact that news about Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur's so-called romance (which many dub as a publicity tactic) is hogging the limelight and keeping his film Kaminey in the news rather than its content or the hard work people have put in.
Sources close to the film said that apparently the director called up his lead stars and passed a diktat that they should be on a 'no comment' mode to the media about their relationship. He seems to have threatened that if he read news about their relationship, he would disassociate himself and not promote the film at all.
A highly placed source on condition of anonymity says, "Vishal relies on his content to promote his film. Be it be Omkara or Makdee, all his films have stood out for their content as they garnered widespread critical acclaim. With Kaminey, what has happened is that Shahid and Priyanka have become an item since they are single, and Shahid's lover boy image has garnered unnecessary gossip. Vishal is upset that the film is not being talked about and Shahid and Priyanka's link-up is driving the publicity. He wanted to pull the plug. He called up Priyanka as well as Shahid and told them to ignore questions about their affair by the media. They will now not speak about themselves at all."
And if you thought that Vishal ended it there, he didn't. He also apparently called for an emergency meeting with his entire cast and crew. "To stem the flow of information about how Shahid and Priyanka were on the sets and what they did during shooting, he called for a meeting with his entire staff and passed an order to not leak information to any media."
