How much have the Indian Film Industry has changed over the 21st century?

They have only progressed technically. I think the Documentarians have pushed far in meaningful and persuasive topics . Filmmakers have a long way to go.. beyond the Stories. Screenplay Tools and Acting in good cinema.

I haven't seen this so thank you for sharing. And yes, I am inclined to agree with all of the above. It is unfortunate that I hadn't even heard of a few films mentioned. Some of that lies with the fact though that there really isn't strong enough of an indie movement in India yet. The only one I think that has made it really without having any corporate backing at all in the beginning is Rajat Kapoor, who did finance through people on the internet for Raghu Romeo.

And the related article is so right when it hammers on the following about certain themes being repeated a lot:"poverty and wealth; caste and class; violence and fear; and, unsurprisingly in movie-mad India, the persistence of cinema as a map for living."
