The argument that India is also a racist country & hence he should not make a big hue & cry of this issue is just ludicrous...........all Indians have every right to object to such atrocities. I for one will be glad if he refuses to accept the honour. Anyways as many have pointed out he will be bashed regardless of what he does so he might as well do something he deems right.

Man I fail to understand the attitude of some people. Its the duty of the press to highlight atrocities so that justice can be delivered. It doesnt matter in which part of the world this happens. Do you remember what happened when Rev Staines was murdered in India? Do you remember the uproar a single killing caused in the west? My friends babhi who is a white catholic cancelled her visit to her in-laws house in India fearing for her life. Such was the hysteria caused by the western press.
Just because India happens to have a some racist idiots it doesnt mean that every such attack should be swept under the carpet. Why are such incidents on the rise in Australia because the perps get away with a slap on the wrist. Hopefully with the uproar this incident raised those teenage boys will be punished severely. And Mr B accepting or declining this award will not affect this issue in anyway but he didnt accept it - its his choice. As for his blog, who cares what he writes, its not that he is making everyone read it at gunpoint - if reading his blog raises your BP so much its better to not go to the site - might help your health in the long run too 😛

Why does he need to have a poll about it? If he is against the racist attacks in Australia, he shouldn't accept the award. period. The poll just dilutes his stand that is if he actually has one! He could have blogged about why he decided not to accept the honor.

good point... people just FAIL to understand... now the funny thing is how perspectives change when it's their own favourite... 😛
a poll is usually just for people's opinion.. in the end, usually one does what one feels right or wrong..
and very appropriate, a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt: Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do and damned if you don't...!!
i'm with amit ji on this... not because i am a fan but this is what i would have done too... just because we're Indians, we're supposed to 'lick feet' of the westerners (as the common thought goes around here, not that you'll hear most people say it but you can tell).... i worked in a company (a very high profile company, btw) here and our immediate boss was an indian and he was the best one at the job but he never did get promoted to the highest post because guess what, he was indian... so racism exists even in the west... why not bring it out and let people know... there are some who are not even aware what is happening in their own country because government just hushes up the news... now, is that right..? 🤢🤢

First of all, what happened with the Indian student was disguisting. It's a sad but true that many Asian students get racially attacked when they leave home to study abroad. It's terrible.
But really, this issue is not about Amitabh. It's his personal choice for not accepting the honour but I won't praise him for it. He is not a part of this issue. And I won't say whether or not he did the right thing. All that I have to say is that I hope this issue doesn't get hijacked by Bollywood, coz then it gets trivial. This is a serious matter. No one should have to tolerate racism.

Exactly. This is my problem with Sr. Bacchan. He likes to publicize everything and I mean EVERYTHING. This is a serious matter and now it has been trivialized by bollywood media courtesy his blog. He should not have accepted the award if he felt that way about it, why write about his dilemna on the blog no matter how "sincere" his sentiments were. He writes about Dhoni not accepting his messages or whatever the heck that was, about Sobha De's complaints on Aishwarya's dress last Cannes, about how he made rounds of the hospital to visit his old acquaintances blah blah blah. I stopped reading his blog last summer because of the heights of its ridiculousness. It started off well but now he is just using it as a tool to lash back at the media or to elevate himself.
Comeon....don't let your right hand know what the left hand is doing. Just do it or don't & if not then STFU.
