Pop-singer and host of Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Shaan, is set to release his next romantic pop-album called 'Tishnagi' (thirst), which is partly composed by Ace precussionist Ranjit Barot. Real melodies
This time, the ever-smiling singer-composer-lyricist, has also turned the album into a 'reality venture' of sorts. Explains Shaan, "Sometimes you get fed up of all the fake simulated stuff that you keep hearing.
So we've used actual raw sounds of rhythm and melody instead of the sampler —synthesized sounds. How could I not let Ranjit give us the real stuff?" We hope to quench the thirst for energetic melody," he asserts. Wife in two videos
He let his charming wife Radhika make her maiden screen-appearance in two of the music videos of Tishnagi, which are already shot. "It just happened out of the blue that we decided to cast Radhika as a housewife and mother who dreams of becoming an office executive when she sees a career-woman.
Even my real-life little kids, Soham and Shubh have acted with her. In the other video Na Kehna Nahin Aata, which is quite spoofy, Radhika plays my love-interest; and in the climax, she hoodwinks me. It is not all that easy to play your real-life relationships on screen," he chuckles. Winners do playback singing
Meanwhile, show-host Shaan refutes charges that the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest winners fail to make much headway as playback singers, considering the tough competition and music-biz politics that they end up facing.
"That's a wrong impression. In fact, three of the Super Six finalists have already recorded playback songs under the baton of their mentor-judges Aadesh Srivastava, Ismail Durbar and Himesh Reshammiya. Eventually it depends on their individual luck, whether they strike it big. We have dazzling examples of Sa Re Ga Ma discoveries like Kunal Ganjawala and Shreya Ghosal, who are now eminent singers," he counters. |
