With the MTV Awards coming closer, MTV posted two articles about Rob and his chance of winning Best Breakthrough Performance for Twilight.
First, Twilight director, Catherine Hardwicke is all for Rob winning the award.
"I remember when we first cast him. We put it on the Internet, and people were sending e-mails [saying], 'He's revolting! He's disgusting! He can't be Edward!' And of course, the fans, after we started putting out some photographs of him looking like Edward, they turned around," Hardwicke grinned. "Now he's pretty much on the cover of every magazine! It's pretty crazy."
The second article names Rob as the frontrunner for the award. However, nothings really for sure (unless you voted a million times for Rob) since Rob is up against so many rising stars.
The obvious front-runner is "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson, who has a rabid fanbase on his side. The category also finds Dev Patel nominated for his role in the Oscar-winning flick "Slumdog Millionaire." Then there's Bobb'e J. Thompson for his hysterical turn in "Role Models," Taylor Lautner in "Twilight" and Ben Barnes in "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian."
MTV awards will be aired on May 31st, where trailer #1 for New Moon will premiere.
