Remember the cute Pepsi ad featuring Preity and Kareena? The new Pepsi ad that's ready to hit TV screens features Kareena, but Preity has been replaced by Priyanka. No seniors, only senors:
The ad is for a new product Pepsi Caf Chino.
The lyrics describe the drink as hard and soft, rough and smooth, being pretty mixed-up yet cool. Here's to Priyanka finally beating Preity at the endorsements race.
No buddah for Rakhi
Rakhi Sawant
Item bomb Rakhi Sawant's music video of Main Kya Karoo Ram Mujhe Buddah Mil Gaya from the Pin-Up Doll album (Tips) is minus the buddah. There was speculation that Sawant had thrown tantrums that she would not dance with an oldie.
At the music launch, which had Zayed Khan as the khaas mehmaan, the vivacious danseuse-actress had her own justification.
"There was no objection from my side for dancing with an elderly man. You-are-as-old -as-you- think — you are.. But we did not want an odious comparison to the late Raj Kapoorsaab's original song. So director Rahul Sud and dance-master Stanley decided not to have a 'senior' character. In any case it is a solo female song," she shrugs.
Was it true that the otherwise bare-dare Sawant was unwilling to expose for a nautanki item-song in Priyadarshan's latest movie Malamaal Weekly? "Yes. I am fully clad in a body-hugging suit for that song. But it was the director's decision. Sometimes, I guess, when you leave everything to imagination, it has its own naughty allure," she grins.
Vindu gets busy
With a whole lot of actors going in for name alterations, this one should come as no surprise. The only difference is, Vindu Singh, son of Dara Singh, the legendary wrestler and silver-screen actor, has added his father's name to his own. He will, in effect become Vindu Dara Singh. Going back to one's orginal name seems quite the trend. Viveik Anand Oberoi tried it without much effect. Vindu, on the other hand, has his hands full.
He will be doing Team, Kisse Pyaar Karoon in Hindi, Baba Deep Singh in Punjabi, and Ramadasu in Telegu. On the TV front, he works in the serial Bhagvatam. Says the actor, "Everybody would spell my name differently, I decided to clear this, and give my name a fixed form and clarity. I am happy this decision has paid off." Will his father's luck rub off on him? Here's looking at you, Vindu…
Kunal: Rang de Panchgani Blessing in disguise:
Kunal Kapoor
Rang De Basanti may or may not change that. But Kunal Kapoor sure was making the most of not being recognised or mobbed in Panchgani at the Aamir wedding jamboree.
We spotted him dressed in casuals walking around the hill station with a few friends, plastic ka thaila in hand. (The kind that the local vendors hand you when you buy some of that yummy jam and strawberries from the market) With all the celebrities locked up behind doors at most times trying to avoid the paparazzi they sure must've envied the newcomer. Meanwhile his film releases worldwide on January 20 and you can catch on the film at it's official website — http://www.rangdebasanti.net
The Worst Film Of The Year? Is this what I wanted?
Ayesha Takia, Viveik Anand Oberoi and Mahima Chaudhury
in Home Delivery
Caught the affable filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh in London where his wife and two children stay. Sujoy keeps shuttling between Mumbai and London. After Home Delivery delivered an egg, Sujoy is back home licking his wounds, re-thinking his priorities.
To add injury to insult a survey undertaken by a website (rediff.com) has readers polling Home Delivery the worst film of 2005.
"At least my film has topped in some list. Hats off to me for that," Sujoy tries to sound brave. "One learns from one's mistakes. I guess after Jhankar Beats, I went terribly wrong this time. I'll have to be very careful with my next one. I made Home Delivery the way I wanted to. So, I can't blame anyone for it."
