Jyoti is the perfect example of how the eldest of three daughters, works harder than three sons put together and to be the man of the house for her family. A woman who gracefully faces all obstacles without flinching to give her maternal family everything they need and a lot of what they desire, without ever learning to give up.

But one day she painfully discovers that beneath the veneer of helpless concern for her, she was actually, no more than a golden goose for most of her family. And that the one person, whom she always thought, had been waiting in the wings to envelope her with love is the one who delivers her the hardest blow of all...

Will Jyoti crumble with the impact of these painful revelations about her loved ones? Or will she be able to weather these storms to stand stronger than before?

Even when her own sister, whom she had always treated like her own daughter, back stabbed her and stole away her lover….

Even when her husband, for whom she had left her whole world behind to become the eyes of his soul, threw her out of the house in her delicate state of pregnancy, on hearing a fact of her life, which held no truth….

Even after all this, Jyoti soldiers on, bringing to the lives of those around her the light that she has always brought... No matter whether her own life is full of sunshine or of overcast clouds...

i had convinced myself that this was related to sushama and brij (i.e. brij was going to throw out sushma). but i guess i've got to accept that this is probably where the plot line is going.

i dont care. i'm still rooting for those few moments of sachin jyoti romance.

after that i can start hating on sachin.

i hope that the end is uplifting regardless of whether or not she ends up having a happy life with him.

but i really do hope that he's strong enough or at least his love is strong enough to accept all of jyoti's truths. i think it is. but i think the "truth" which causes that event is probably something his heart cannot bear like a rumor that jyoti is cheating on him or that she desires or deserves better. hopefully he'll find out the truth for himself.

I think that Jyoti is the story of a girl who no matter what hits her, she finds a way to live - this is supposed to be the strength of the women who face the same thing ...
So many women are ill-treated by their own families (being realistic the boy is always praised, and many of my uncles were the second sets of sons to a man when he remarried), and then in the end, the husband treats the wife like crap ... totally realistic.

you know what if its a positive thing? like what if having a child makes sachin really feel his "handicap" in it's worst form. he feels for the first time that his blindness is really the darkness of his life, that it is a horrible thing that he can never correct because he can never see the face of his own children.

i was trying to express the gravity of such emotion but i can't seem to capture it in words. this must be a horrible feeling.

Meaning, they were step sons and had step mothers - and the way they describe it, a step mother is nothing like your real mother - so by what they told me about what they felt I can only imagine what Jyoti feels.
