More than 25 persons died in Kolkata as Aila ripped through the state, unleashing a furious storm over the state capital. Among the 40 injured in the city, eight are still admitted in hospitals.
Auto-driver Abir Mitra was driving through Hawrah , when a tree fell on the vehicle. An injured Mitra was immediately rushed to the SSKM Medical College, where he was declared brought dead. Tapan Kumar Das (46), a resident of Nilmani Lane in Muchipara police station area, was travelling in a bus. While it was crossing the Amherst Street junction, a tree fell on the bus, leaving six passengers severely injured. All the injured were taken to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital where Das was declared dead on arrival. Bablu (50), a resident of Manicktala, died after a tree fell on him.
Kamala Kundu (60), a resident of 12/B Kabi Sukanta Sarani, was killed after being hit by a falling lamppost while crossing the road. She was admitted to NRS Medical College and Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. About 25,000 people are homeless without food. There r no current in some area's from 2 days.
