Your question is quite apt - Why not change the actress playing Saloni and continue the story every-one was watching NS et al? Many shows understood the importance of both character and actress. In shows which change the actress they write in the change of actress by facelift or a slight leap or just switch actresses. It was expected there would be a lost in viewers for those who couldn't handle the change but the story would continue with the character. But the producers in their arrogance believed that one dark girl story was as good as another - by leaping the show and starting Saawri's story they signal to the viewers and channel there was no more Saloni's story. Saloni is now the support character in Saawri's story - she's the mother of Sawri and Shweta. So, in essense by creating the scene for the Saawri story that signal the end of the Saloni story so the channel decided to end the show - viewers like your self had unanswered question Nahar/Amrit - Nahar died in December and it's now May- 18 years later in the show. Vindra left 19 years ago....Eshaan exodus from the show....Shubdra and family disapperances . The unbalance Brijesh was resurrected in 5 minutes in 1 scene. The Nahar, Saloni, Amrit story was quickly resolved without an answer. These are things that were important to the viewers but to the producers they were only interested in starting the Saawri and Shweta story.
"After the leap, the kids are shown as grown-ups, and the storyline focused on the next generation. Though the show introduced Saloni's daughters -- Saawri and Shweta -- all the efforts were in vain because by them much of the plot had gone haywire.
Shikha Vij, creative director of the show says, "The channel has given us time till the end of May. After the generation leap, we have tried our best to deliver. I think the channel and the audience would be able to tell you why the show is coming to an end.
