this is some what similar type of story of kannada movie, i don't remember the name, but it starred Ravichandran & Isha koppikar..where she becomes collector at end.

I did see an interview of Ekta where she had mentioned that the story is inspired from south indian film which she thought was brilliant and was waiting for someone to make a hindi film but since no one did, she made it into a serial!!! hehehe..the best thing she has ever done!!!

Well so many soaps are heavily lifted from other things, even Bollywood relies heavily on doing so, heck sometimes they copy frame to frame. Even if something is copied they can still choose to implement in their own way but that seems to be lacking totally here, while the idea might be good, the way it's executed is really poor, from the script to the direction.
