they should have kicked their behind for asking for dowry and reported them to the cops........It is illegal in india to ask for Dowry, people just need to step up and report it because, police aren't god, they don't smell things ahead of time.....

yes the police is corrupted in a lot places especially the rural ones.
and I don't think the police would have cared to listen to these poor people.

Yes I too think husband and wife should be from the same status, it doesn't matter much to the boy and the girl but sometimes their families don't agree with each other.
