Personally I would have preferred if they had opted for the Simhasana-Dwatrimshika (the 32 tales of the throne of Vikramaditya) using variants from both India and abroad. I believe there was an old 80s show on DD that adapted the tales of the throne but it was not produced by Sagar Arts if I'm not wrong.

yup!! few years back this show was even repeated on Doordarshan (uttar pradesh )as they keep repeateing all their mytho & famous old shows ,they even repeated mahabharat dubbed in bhojpuri language & om namah shivay was also repeated !!!

its name was singhasan batiisee ,it was the story of the throne of raja vikramaditya !!!!
