Hey guys, this is my first one-shot, and it is dedicated to my best friend on the forum. She is such a lovely person and I couldn't think of a better person to write this one-shot on. It is amazing how in such a short span of time we have become such good friends, and I love her to bits, so this is for her!
Samne Wali Khidki
She walked upstairs with a big smile on her face, knowing that the one person she would see looking out of her bedroom window would be him. Years ago they had had made a promise to each other that they would come to their bedroom windows everyday to see each other and would together watch the sunset. Their houses faced the East, so they were able to look sideways out of their windows and watch the sun set over the horizon. They had been neighbours since they were born and their bedroom windows faced each other, linking them even closer. They shared everything- sharing both their happiness and their pain.
One thing she was sure about was that she loved him, but she was still unsure whether he felt the same way. As she walked upstairs, she clutched onto the results of her papers, she would only be able to open them around him, and he was the only person she wanted to share them with. Entering her room she ran to her window, opening it with haste, only to be disappointed with the sight in front of her. He was not there, his window was closed and the room looked empty. Tears brimmed her eyes as she heard the first sound of the birds singing to indicate the sun setting over the West. He had broken their promise for the first time, after so many years.
Gently wiping her cheeks, she darted downstairs to open the front door and saw him standing there, as if he fully knew that this is what she would do. She immediately leapt into his arms and cried 'Where were you Prem?' she sobbed, as his hands stroked her back. 'I didn't go anywhere' he replied simply. 'Then why weren't you at your window?' she pouted and Prem laughed. 'I wanted to see how you would react if I ever went away from you' he said sheepishly, and she immediately raised a hand to his mouth and shook her head. 'Don't you EVER say that again!' she exclaimed, and hugged him once more.
As they broke apart, she raised her results paper anxiously and he shook his head, telling her not to worry. She shakily opened the paper and stared at the paper blankly for a moment letting the words and numbers register in her brain. All of a sudden, she jumped in the air, screaming 'I passed!!! I PASSED!!' Prem held onto her shoulders and grinned 'I knew you could do it!' he said. Unexpectedly his face began to fall and he looked away from her, which didn't go unnoticed by her. She raised a finger to his chin and brought his face up to look at her, shrugging. 'I'm getting married' he said, unable to look into her eyes.
She felt her heart breaking into tiny little pieces, and was finding it difficult to breathe. 'Wh...What?' she asked, shock filling her. He nodded and took her hands in his firmly, gently caressing the top of her hand with his fingers. 'Yes, my parents chose her for me. They say she is really beautiful and intelligent and that she would make a lovely wife' he said, a slow grin spreading over his face. 'Why are you smiling? Are you happy with this rishta?' she asked warily, tears caressing her cheeks. 'Of course I am happy. I have loved her for years!' he answered, and her jaw involuntarily fell. 'Yes! Her name...her name is...Meera!' he said and fell into a fit of laughter.
Her mouth fell further, 'What? Me?' she asked, putting her hand over her mouth, the sudden realisation of what was happening hitting her. 'Prem...You...!!!!' Meera yelled, running after him as he tried to escape her beatings. She playfully slapped him on the arms and was immediately pulled into a hug by Prem. 'I love you' he whispered, tightening his grip around her waist. How she had longed to hear those three little words from his mouth. 'I love you too' she said and snuggled against his warm body. After releasing each other from their embrace, both went up to their respective bedrooms and watched the sunset just like every other day, both revelling in the fact that soon they would watch the sunset together from the same window.
Hehe!! 😆 A fluff-filled one-shot, which I hope was enjoyed by you all!! I hope the concept was liked, and most of all, I hope my bowl of Sheera liked it, hehe!! 😳
