In China because of their one child policy and the people wanting to have a male heir female infanticide is rampant. I didnt realize this until recently when 2 of my collegues in China mysteriously lost their babies at birth, both girls - still birth they said but another collegue said what really happens there. even months after it happened one of the girls used to cry everytime she spoke about her pregnancy.

ya i had seen a documentary on this.......it has resulted in a gross imbalance in the male to female ratio....

It feels good to hear about strong and independent women like Neera Chopra. I hope both of her daughters are successful.

The male-female ratio in India is already pretty skewed. It is so sad that people still look at girl children as burdens.

We still have people who force women to put up with infidel/abusive husbands and cruel in-laws. What people don't understand is strong single parents bring up their children much better than meek abused mothers in a crappy marriage.

I completely agree Maya! People need to understand that two parents does not necessarily mean a happy home. Women need to stand up for themselves, trust me you are not doing your kids any favor by putting up with a bad husband. Kids understand everything, they are not mere puppets.
