Hm, On a serious note, I also would not like him to throw the picture out, however, lets say something natural, like...hmmm..

Santu is sleeping on the floor and is really hot, and she keeps festering with the sheets and Dm notices...

DM- Eh chokri kya hai? [nodding head while motioning towards her movements]
Santu- voh malik.....(looks down)
DM- Kya baat che, eh idhar udhar kya karte hai tere chaadar ke saat?
Santu- voh malik...
DM- kya mailk mailk laga rakha hai....bol..
Santu- voh malik, garmi bohot hai..
DM- Ha, tu tere gao meh kya karti thi? Garmi mai he soti thi na?
Santu- Ha layken sab khirki ko khula rakh thi thi
DM- (Looks at her downturned face for a second. Gets up off the bed, and opens the window)
Santu- Malik.....
DM- Chup kar, ab so cha, garam ab nahi lage ga
(Santu is about to tell him about Subhatras dia and picture but DM puts up hand and tells her to sleep)

[while everyone is asleep wind blows and burns out Subhi's candle...camera zooms in towards the burnt out dia....end scene]

*So basically this burning out of the dia would be a signifier of how Subhi's presence does not alter Santu and DM's relationship, because DM thought of Santu who is there in front of him as oppsed to the dead Subhi, foreshadowing how Santu is starting to mean more to him to him......
