John Abraham says explicitly that he was never asked to do Bhansali's Chenab Gandhi

It was rumoured that Bipasha Basu prevailed upon her boyfriend John Abraham to turn down a role opposite Vidya Balan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming film, Chenab Gandhi. John rubbished the rumour and said, "I definitely met Bhansali sometime ago and we spoke about working together in future. But Chenab Gandhi did not figure in the discussion at all."

All said and done, the hero's slot in Chenab Gandhi is still up for grabs. A source from the film's unit said, "Bhansali might still go back to Harman Baweja who was the original choice for the role."

"Bhansali was supposed to begin the first schedule of Chenab Gandhi from April/May. But now that the male lead actor is still not in place, the shooting has been postponed to November. Earlier Harman, because of his schedule of What's Your Rashee?, had expressed unavailability of dates. But by November, he should be free. So, one cannot rule out his re-entry into the film," our source added.

Despite calls and text messages to him, his publicist and his secretary, Harman remained unavailable for comment.
