Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt
When Sanjay Dutt decided against campaigning for his sister Priya Dutt, the actor's sister promptly approached his friend, Salman Khan to do a road show for her and he agreed. Does this mean that Salman and Sanjay are no longer friends? Salman who idealized Sanju in his fledgling days has shifted loyalties. The actor, it is learnt did visit Lucknow recently for an election campaign but refrained from meeting Sanjay who was in the same city?
Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan
Industry insiders aren't surprised with this change of events. Said a senior person from the industry, '' There are no permanent friends or enemies in Bollywood and the biggest example is the recent patch up between Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. Although they came together for a bigger cause, at least they agreed to share the same platform.''
These flip-flops are constant in Bollywood, with actors and film-makers conveniently changing loyalties; and even more conveniently blaming 90 per cent of their rifts on the media.
Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan
A few months ago, Amitabh Bachchan was upset with Aamir Khan for criticizing his film Black. The actor reacted to Aamir's comment saying that the film must've gone over Aamir's head. Aamir of course met Amitabh personally and sorted out the misunderstanding.
And, after the patch up, the senior actor attended the premiere of Aamir's Taare Zameen Par; and when the media quizzed him about it, he laughed it off saying, ''It's the media who created the problem.''
Amitabh Bachchan and Subhash Ghai
Another point in case is the cold war between Subhash Ghai and Amitabh Bachchan, who hadn't even exchanged pleasantries after their fall-out over Devaa, two decades ago. However Bachchan recently lifted the ban on all things, and agreed to shoot for Ram Gopal Varma's Rann at Ghai's film school-The Whistling Woods.
Senior film scribe, Chaitanya Padukone calls it mutual commercial convenience that brings two enemies together in cinema. ''When it's convenient for them in terms of monetary benefits, Bollywood's film folk bury the hatchet.''
Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor returned to the Karan Johar camp after six years with Jehaad. The actress had fallout with Karan after she asked for an astronomical price for Karan's Kal Ho Na Ho and was replaced with Preity Zinta.
Kareena's friendship with her costars is usually temporary. Bipasha Basu and Kareena attended each other's Diwali parties in 2008. But on the sets of Bipasha's debut film Ajnabee, the two actresses traded insults.
Says film magazine editor, Bharathi S Pradhan, '' The fight was very lopsided, Kareena was on top and Bipasha was just starting out. Now both have sobered down. In fact, Bipasha recently confessed, "We have grown up since then.''
