For the last few days it seems that he has taken a break from his shooting schedules and got himself busy with political campaigns. On the one hand, he attended political rallies for actor and BJP leader Vinod Khanna, while on the other he took to road shows for Sanjay Dutt's sister and Congress candidate Priya Dutt.
Asked why he is not with any party but with individual candidates, he says, "I don't know all the candidates of any political party. What if some of them are not good and honest to the people of their constituency? I don't want to confuse the people of this country. I am very clear that I will campaign for everyone who I know as a right candidate. I campaigned for Anu didi (Anu Tandon, Congress) in Unnao because I know her very well. I know how important her contributions would be for the people if she is elected."
Salman says that he supported Vinod Khanna because he is not just a veteran of the film industry but a dedicated politician too. "Everyone knows how dedicated a politician he is. There is no one who can deliver as much for the people of the constituency as he. I want to see people like him in the parliament. I feel it s my duty to support such candidates."
Expressing a great regard for Priya Dutt, he says, "She is like my sister. But more important to that is the fact that she is the right candidate for people. That's why I am here."
Asked if he is paid good money to support a candidate he says, "I have not taken any money for all this. If I had taken money, I would have supported anyone but that's not the case. I am doing political rallies for those who are my dear ones. I feel sorry that I didn't have time to know more about other candidates. Otherwise, I would have supported them too. I have decided I will never support bad guys in politics. I advise everyone to vote and elect only those who are fair and genuine candidates. Irrespective of political affiliations of the candidates, I am supporting everyone who according to me is honest, hardworking and fair."
