Aamir offers to get theatre toilets cleaned

In the ongoing row between producers and multiplex owners over sharing of movie profits, Aamir Khan who has taken up the cause seriously offered to get toilets of all single screen theatres to be cleaned so that the audience get clean environments at single theatres and switch from multiplexes to single theatres.

Director Vashu Bhagnani reveals, "I was literally shocked when I heard that. For someone like Aamir Khan to make a statement like this is a big enough message for all of us out here."

Vahsu Bhagnani was eagerly waiting for the launchpad of his Jacky Bhagnani in Kal Kissne Dekha, but his joys where shortlived as the flick got postponed due to the mulitplex and producers war.

"I had met Aamir Khan 10-12 years back and wasn't sure if he would really recognize me. I knew he would know me by my name but was doubtful if he would associate it with a face. This is why he coming to me and saying that he was behind my film is a huge thing for me", says Vashu.

Vahsu adds, "Both Aamir Khan as well as Shah Rukh Khan have been pillars of support for my film. While Aamir said that for industry's sake, he would even be willing to clean toilets so that audiences could feel better about watching a film in the single screens, Shah Rukh said that he will publicly ask audience to show support for my film."

Aamir's toilet offer floors debutant Jackky

Aamir Khan's statement to Vashu Bhagnani, saying that he would clean the toilets of single screen cinemas to ensure that his son Jackky's film is watched, has touched the producer and his debutant son tremendously.

"IT is really great that a superstar like Aamir Khan is doing this for a nobody like me," says Jackky Bhagnani, speaking about Aamir Khan's assurance to his father, producer Vashu Bhagnani.

Aamir said he would help make certain audiences watched Jackky's debut movie, Kal Kissne Dekha, despite the fact that multiplexes will most likely not be showing it. The Ghajini star added that he would not hesitate to clean the notoriously unclean toilets at the single screen theatres. The offer was made to Vashu Bhagnani as Bollywood tries to stand together against multiplex owners, asking for a 50:50 share in the revenue.

"Aamir Khan's gesture was not about my movie, but shows the extent to which the industry is willing to go in order to be united in this cause," Jackky said.

Jackky's father Vashu said he was stunned to hear the star say what he did in support. "What struck me was the manner in which he assured me as well as the words he used," Vashu Bhagnani said.

"I will personally clean the toilet if it comes to that, but your film will get a proper release," the star told him.

"I couldn't even respond, or thank him," said Bhagnani, "and then Shah Rukh also came up to me and reassured me."

Jackky said he wanted audiences to know about "SRK's and Aamir's earnest requests to people to please watch the film, even if it is showing on single screens."

Kal Kissne Dekha is to be released on May 1 and the stand-off between Bollywood and multiplexes is not expected to end before that.

Bollywood has so far been getting less than a 50 per cent share on the ticket price. Multiplex owners say that, as in America, films should negotiate with them on a case-by-case basis because not all movies make money for them.

On the other hand, Bollywood producers believe that they carry all the risks and are not given the return that they deserve.
