Heaven on Earth (spoilers - read at your own risk)

it's not that bad of a movie.. although, i don't understand Punjabi, yet i was able to understand the movie.. some disturbing scenes of domestic violence.. it's good story line.. script is a bit weak and execution is not the best.. however, Preity and the main lead's performance save the movie somewhat.. still, execution could have been a lot better..
i think that the snake actually did existed.. because she pulls one out and it doesn't bite her but it's on her shoulders as if supporting her.. anyways, it was a good concept but i am going to cut marks because of execution..
i'll give 2.5 / 5..

A King Cobra in Canneyydaa? Give me a break Deepa Mehta and pksanamji. 😉 That was not surreal but total Twilight Zone. As I.S. Johar used to say in his colomn, Question Box in Filmfare...viewers don't digest! Need Eno's Fruit Salt!!!!!!!!!

I liked the movie a lot. Especially how Mehta delved into the power of the imagination, incorporating magic realism into what could have been another been-there-done-that story. The allusions to the serpent in mythology (Indian and otherwise) were fantastic. The theme of escape through the mind was well executed. I liked the
cobra pit scene where the imagination blends in with reality. That was one of the better points of the movie for me as it explored the contrasting nature of what one hopes and what actually happens.
Despite the fact that the husband was a tyrant, I like how Mehta explained why he acted as he did, without evoking sympathy for his actions. The protagonist - Chand - was a very likable character. Although she wasn't explicitly rebellious, her method of rebelling through the mind - was something I've read only in books. Azar Nafisi's memoir comes to mind.
Preity was phenomenal in her role. The supporting cast was efficient as well.
3.5-4/5

😲😲 Give me a break!!! Which Cobra Pit Scene? I am surprised that the Caanaaydian King Cobra Survived the bubbling red hot Jamaican potion that Priety poured down the pit. I need to have another strong drink, and watch the movie again and again so I can convince myself that I am not totally loco.

😆😆😆 that's why i gave a rating 2.5.. only because of the concept and performances.. otherwise, i'd have given it 1.5..! it was good concept but execution and script was weak.. i much preferred Provoked with Ash, which touched on the same subject.. it was executed very well..!
