Thanks Chandnii for the summary of your conversation with Gurmeet.
Also, showing Vishnu/Lakshmi and Rama/Sita as different - was that also for TRP ratings?
Next time you talk to them, please tell them that they are missing the point if they think that this is simply a case of Lavanasura's fan club being irked: what irks people is the entire story being changed. Like in Valmiki, Shatrughan was there for the birth of Kush-Luv, and at their naming ceremony. Here, he's in Ayodhya for the birth of his own children. Yeah, he probably was there for the birth of his own kids, but he was definitely there for Kush-Luv the night the 2 of them were born.
Also, the Sagars are mistaken if they think people are simply comparing old and current Ramayan. While some may be, many people who are complaining about what they are showing are citing the original Ramayan source from Valmiki. For instance, the account of Sita's exile there is totally different from what they showed. Also, which version has Sita behaving like a complete Amazon, treating her babies like rugged adults in a manner that even Rama wouldn't have done had he been fortunate enough to have them with him?
Also, the standard boilerplate template response of 'we are following the different Ramayans of different authors', which may be true when talking about the pre-Uttarkand, no longer holds here when talking about Uttarkand. When one talks of everything from Bal-kand to Yudhya-kand, there are several authors - Vyasa, Kamban, Tulsidas, Krittivas, et al. But a lot of them did not cover Uttarkand - Kamban and Tulsidas in particular. Kamban in particular explicitly refused to cover it because he found that account too painful. As a result, the number of sources drops precipititously when one gets to the Uttarkand. The 3 sources for Uttarkand could be Valmiki, Padma Puran and Ramcharitas. What others are there?
Also, here's a suggestion - if they want steady TRP's, they would have done well to interleave family scenes with the war preparations and Sita. Showing bits and pieces of everything when they occur is the best way to keep every fans attention.
I for one will keep watching this even though I'm right now in 2 minds about it. But I am absolutely dismayed at the direction they've taken this story.
P.S. They've only now begun shooting the Lavanasura scenes?😲😲😲 Hai Shatrughan!!!!
